FIRM DESCRIPTION

SmartArchitecture was founded in 1992 and provides services in architecture, landscape design, interiors, and furniture design. We have a wide variety of clients and projects to our credit and unusually extensive construction experience, including new construction, renovation, and building additions.

The bulk of the work we do is residential. However, our institutional and commercial clients have included Meredith & Grew; Brimmer and May School; Community Therapeutic Day School; Harvard University; Northeastern University; Eastern Mountain Sports; JL Hammett Company; HDR Engineering; Boston HealthCare; the United Church of Christ; Merrill Lynch; and Cabot, Cabot, & Forbes.

We have a staff of three full-time employees and two part-time consultants. The Principal and founder, Margaret Booz, is a registered architect in the state of Massachusetts, and NCARB-certified to work across the United States. Our office is an open, atelier-style space which we find to be the most conducive to the sharing of ideas and information. Our construction document work is performed with CADD software; we are Mac-based and use the ArchiCAD system, a sophisticated three-dimensionally integrated program. We have long-standing relationships with a variety of consultants -MEP and structural engineers, lighting consultants, cost estimators, and general contractors- from whom we seek and exchange information.
